So i just noticed, that i am still paying daily payment to mercenaries even if i dont have a songle one of them. Few days ago (ingame) i took quest from some lord who asked me to sell his mercenaries to another lord. So i took them, i found new lord, persuaded him to buy those mercenaries from me. He agreed, i got mine 1600 denar from him, but
I've got two fiefs and six or seven villages. Unfortunately it seems that most of my time is involved in returning to the same two or three villages that are constantly being raided. Literally nonstop. Looking at the logs of enemy generals I capture, they each have raided, been captured, escaped, and made a new army to raid the same village
et voila ~ to use the mod, you rely heavily on the config.json file. banner codes can be found here. copy and paste codes to kingdoms/clans. JiJ0id. • 3 mo. ago. JiJ0id. • 3 mo. ago. r/Bannerlord.
Simplest way is the perk, though. Trade isn't too difficult to get up, but it can be pretty tedious. Gets a lot easier levelling it once you get the first perk. I might be thinking of Warband but you used to be able to talk to your liege lord and hand back fiefs you owned, at a relationship penalty due in most cases.
Now as for the original question, Idk man, mercenary is fun once you reach tier 2 or still tier 3 maybe even 4, mercenary status is the quickest best way to make money while also leveling most of your character skills, you join whatever faction is in war with a faction you don`t mind screwing with and also have a lot of prosperity so you can go

Steward skill - don't make my mistake! Bannerlord. Make sure you have at least 1 focus point assigned to the Steward skill in the early game, unless of course your character starts with some learning rate already. I thought I'd leave the skill alone as I was just being a mercenary and didn't need to own any settlements.

v1.0.1: Fixed a bug where if the player happened to be waiting in a town/village when the contract menu pops up they would be stuck inside the town/village when the menu closes. The mod should now switch back to the previously open menu if a menu was open when the contract menu triggers. Early game the mercenary contract alone can pay for your whole army (50-75 troops.), again if not using a stack of t5 troops just from killing bandits. Get's much higher if you beat lords down. Once you can win verses lords the best part about the contract is that it lets you battle with their enemies. 10-15k from loot + ransoms on average

They'll defend themselves. If they're defeated and not taken prisoner, at some point, the NPC you assigned to the caravan will start waiting for you in a random citys tavern, you can go and pick them up; then, if you still want that character to trade, you'll have to pay for the caravan again. Last I checked, the price was 15000 for a regular
