TDI advantages: -kickass mileage. -lots of torque for that little engine (especially compared to a 2.0) -a few mods can make it pretty quick. -could run on biodiesel if you are into that kind of thing. 1.8T advantages: -still decent mileage. -lots of power. -easily tuneable for big gains.
I'm on the verge of buying a mk5 diesel golf in a couple of weeks, but I'm stuck between a 1.9 tdi or a 2.0 gt tdi. I'm 19 years old so insurance is a massive problem.. I've been getting quotes in the region of £1,200 for the 1.9 tdi, and around the £2,000 mark for a 2.0 gt tdi.
